Welcome to Family Law
Family Law Chambers has nine members who conduct specialist practices focussing upon the Family Law Jurisdiction and associated proceedings, including property settlement, parenting proceedings, child welfare, child support, international abduction proceedings and mediations.
The members of chambers are widely recognised as among the leaders of Family Law at the New South Wales Bar.
Family Law Chambers was established in February 2004.
Chambers were established by a group of barristers who practised predominately in Family Law and, having agreed to occupy new premises immediately next door to the Family Court of Australia in Sydney, they committed themselves to offering a practice aimed at providing premium services in a specialist jurisdiction.
Following on this aim, Family Law Chambers was determined as a name, being the first time in Australia that a group of barristers in chambers had departed from the traditional styling of the name of chambers to focus upon and present the specialist jurisdiction in which they each practised.
Chambers was officially opened by the Honourable Justice Michael Kirby AC CMG on 6 May 2004 and the nine present members of chambers offer a broad range of experience and expertise covering all aspects of family law including aspects arising from family disputes outside of the jurisdiction of the Family Court of Australia.
